Auch hier gab es unzählige Bands die gut waren und es leider nur zu Tapes gebracht haben. Wichtig waren: SUPER ALFA; SANGRE Y SUDOR; AUSTER; ABADDON; ASPID; REPTIL; XYSTER; TASK FORCE (mit dem Demo "Iron Assassin" aus Ciudad Juarez) und viele mehr. Unglaublich war die Band IZCKRA, die in absolut gelungener Weise Speed Metal mit Folklore mischte! Mir sind sonst alle Folk Metal Bands ein Greul, aber diese Jungs hatten es drauf! Eine andere sehr aktive Band der 80er war JHAVY METAL Y LA DIVINA COMEDIA. Der Sänger nannte sich Jhavy Metal, und mit seinen Mannen spielte er sehr guten traditionellen Metal, mit leichten progresivenEinflüssen und einer theatralischen Schow. Sie waren sogar im TV, schafften es aber nie ein offizielles Album zu machen. Seit Ende der 80er erschienen auch viele gute Thrash Bands nur auf Kassette, wie zum Beispiel DRAKSEN und SEPTIMO ANGEL. Es erschienen auch viel offizielle Alben nur auf Kassette, die hier auch zu Ehren kommen sollen. Mittlerweile tauchen immer mehr neue Bands auf, und schaffen es eine CD herauszubringen! Vor einiger Zeit habe ich diese kleine Liste mit Bands gemacht, auf denen die ganze Hoffnung der True Metal Fans Mitte der 90er ruhte, und die als einzige im Untergrund herumkrebsten und die Fahne hochhielten. Die meisten davon haben es wohl doch nicht geschafft zu überleben, und andere Bands haben die Führung übernommen! Von einigen dieser Bands wird man aber trotzdem sicher noch hören! Hier also der kleine Auszug:

BESTIA METALICA aus Tula / Hidalgo ist die Band der 4 Brüder Cortes, die seit 1989 mehrere gute Metal Demos machten.

CRUZ DE FUEGO spielen guten melodiösen Heavy Metal, was man auf ihrem Tape Album "Fuera de control" sehr gut hört. Dieses erschien 1993 bei "Denver Discos", und es scheint, dass sie schon 2 CDs in ihrer Heimatstadt Tijuana herausgebracht haben!? Dieses hat sich bisher noch nicht bestätigt. Bei ihnen hat auch zeitweise Edgar Oliden von GEHENNA Drums gespielt.

DAMN SHARK ist eine andere junge Band die 1995 gegründet wurde und Jahrelang ganz tief im Untergrund Metal im alten Stil und mit teutonischem Einschlag spielte. Sie konnten 1995/96 für einigen Tribute Alben für B: SABBATH; METALLICA und MAIDEN Stücke aufnehmen. 1998 eröffneten sie für HELLOWEEN, und 1999 für ANGRA und GAMMA RAY. Erst im Jahr 2000 nahmen sie 2 Demo CDs auf, und ihr Album "Era of the dark" wird bald released. Mit dem fantastischen Drachen Cover und ihrem astreinen Metal wird das Ding sicher auch hier einschlagen!

MEN AT ARMS existieren erst seit 1995, sind aber in der Szene schon gehörig aufgefallen. Sie haben das verschärfteste Metal Warriors Outfit, und werfen mit kriegerischen Sprüchen um sich. Ihr Kassettenalbum "Die by our sword" ist dann auch ziemlich truer Sound, aber mit einer total Death Metal mässigen Stimme. Nun muss man abwarten in welcher Richtung sie sich entwickeln werden.

OBERTURA hiessen bei ihrer Gründung 1995 noch EXCALIBUR. Weil die Rechte an dem Namen teuer sind änderten sie ihn. Von ihrem traditionellen Metal konnten sie die Fans 1998 mit ihrem ersten Demo überzeugen. Live sind sie auch sehr aktiv und eröffneten schon für RATA BLANCA; ANGELES DEL INFIERNO und anderen.

ORO VERDE brachten 1997 das Tape Album "Buscando tu identidad" auf den Markt. Guter purer Metal steht auf ihren Fahnen und sie haben mindestens noch ein Tape herausgebracht.

PADRE NUESTRO aus Cuernavaca wurden als PATERNOSTER von den Salgado Brüdern 1988 gegründet. Ihr Kassettenalbum "Quien es el" 1991 bei Avanzada und ihr Demo von 1997 sind richtig guter Metal.

TIERRA ACIDA hiessen vorher CASTLOW und veröffentlichten 1991 ein hochgelobtes Demo, ehe sie 1994 den Namen wechselten und neues gutes Material im Power / Thrash Stil herausbrachten.

TZOMPANTLI / INCEST spielen seit 1989 sehr guten Power/Thrash Metal. Unter ihrem ersten seltsamen Namen nahmen sie 3 Kassettenalben mit dem selbstgewählten Etikett "Azteken Metal" oder auch "Prehispanic Metal" auf. Erst vor kurzem änderten sie ihren Namen der ihre Texte und Musik viel besser unterstreicht.

VOTAN / MARDUK aus Leon brachten unter ihrem ersten Namen 3 Heavy / Speed Demos heraus, und nach dem Namenswechsel 1996 heisst ihr neuestes Werk "Olmecas". Wie dieser Titel schon ausdrückt handeln ihre Texte von der alten Indianerkultur.

In the 80s there were tons of great Metal bands, that were never able to release an album. Really good demos made in this time: SUPER ALFA; SANGRE Y SUDOR; AUSTER; ABADDON; ASPID; REPTIL; XYSTER; TASK FORCE (with the demo "Iron Assassin" from Ciudad Juarez) and many many more. Fantastic was the band IZCKRA, who mixed great Speed Metal with Mexican Folk parts!! I normally hate this Folk Metal stuff, but what this guys have done fits absolutely, and is great to hear! Very active in the 80s was also JHAVY METAL Y LA DIVINA COMEDIA. They even played several in TV, but never managed to release an official album. The singer called himself Jhavy Metal, painted his face, and they made very good traditional Metal with some progressive parts and with a theatralic show. Since the end of the 80s appeared also many good Thrash bands which only released cassettes, like DRAKSEN and SEPTIMO ANGEL.
There were also many albums released by companies only as cassette, which I will include here too. In the mid 90s it looked very bad for bands of traditional Metal, and there existed only some in the deep underground. In this time I made the following list of new hopefuls! But since a short time there appeared new True Metal bands, directly with CDs, which took over the leadership of the Underground! Some of this bands might have disappeared already, but most of them still exist,a dn might release CDs soon! Here now the short list of True Metal hopefuls from end of the 90s:

BESTIA METALICA from the town Tula in the province Hidalgo is the band of the brothers Cortes. Since 1989 they made several good demos.

CRUZ DE FUEGO play good and melodic Heavy Metal. The tape album "Fuera de control" was released by "Denver discos" in 1993. The drummer Edgar Oliden from GEHENNA was for a while member of the band. It seems that they are from the town of Tijuana, the rough border town opposite San Diego, and that they have released one or two CD albums!? I could not confirm this so far.

DAMN SHARK is another very young band from the deep underground. They were founded in 1995, and could release some songs in 1996/97 on some Tribute albums for B. SABBATH; METALLICA and MAIDEN. They play Metal with typical German influences, and opened in 1998 for their heroes HELLOWEEN, and in 1999 for ANGRA and GAMMA RAY. In 2000 they made 2 demo CDs and the first album "Era of the dark" is almost finished. With the great dragon cover and their experience, this should be interesting for every Metal maniac. Hopefully it will have a good distribution in other countries.

MEN AT ARMS exist since 1995, and are very well known in the scene. They have a real "Metal Warrior" outfit with lots of spikes and leather, and use martial slogans. The demo "Die by the sword" from 1999 has True Metal sound, but a total Black Metal like voice. It seems that they try to combine both styles. The last demo "Real man wear black" is even more extreme, and it is not clear in which direction they will go. Look at the homepage to see them in full warrior gear.

OBERTURA were founded in 1995 under the name EXCALIBUR. Because the rights for this name are expensive they changed the name. They are live very active, and opened already for bands like RATA BLANCA; ANGELES DEL INFIERNO and others. In 1998 they finally managed to record their traditional Metal on a 5 track demo.

ORO VERDE released in 1997 a LP tape with the name "Buscando tu identidad", which contained good pure Metal. They made at least one more cassette album. I hope they still exist!?

PADRE NUESTRO from Cuernavaca were founded in 1988 from the brothers Salgado under the name PATERNOSTER. After the change of the name they released the really good LP tape "Quien es el" with "Avanzada Metalica", and made another good demo in 1997.

TIERRA ACIDA were first named CASTLOW and made in 1991 a very praised demo, before they changed the name in 1994. The newer material is in the Power / Thrash style.

TZOMPANTLI were founded in 1989 under the name INCEST. Under this strange name they made 3 demos in very good Power / Thrash style. They called their music "Aztec Metal" or "Prehispanic Metal". VOTAN is a band from Leon, and is already active since a while. They called themself first MARDUK and made 3 good Heavy / Speed demos. In 1996 they changed the name and released the demo "Olmecas". This is a name of an old indian tribe, and all the lyrics are about this theme, and the music is again Metal at it`s best.

En los 80 hubo toneladas de grandiosas bandas de Metal que nunca pudieron sacar un disco. Verdaderamente buenos demos se hicieron en este tiempo: SUPER ALFA; SANGRE Y SUDOR; AUSTER; ABADDON; ASPID; REPTIL; XYSTER; TASK FORCE (con el "Iron Assassin" desde Ciudad Juarez) y muchas muchas mas. Fantástica era la banda IZCKRA, que mezclaba Speed Metal con folclore mexicano!! Yo normalmente odio este folclore, pero lo que estos tipos hicieron encaja perfectamente y es grandioso para escuchar! Muy activos en los 80 tambien eran JHAVY METAL Y LA DIVINA COMEDIA. Hasta tocaron en varios programas de TV pero nunca sacaron un disco oficial. El cantante se hacia llamar asi mismo Jhavy Metal, pintaba su cara, y hacian muy buen Metal tradicional con partes progresivas y con shows teatrales. Desde fines de los 80 aparecieron muy buenas bandas de Thrash que solo lanzaron cassettes, como DRAKSEN y SEPTIMO ANGEL.
Tambien hubo varios lanzamientos de discos por companias solo por cassette, los cuales incluiré aca tambien.Porque toda la esperanza del verdadero Metal esta en los hombros de solo unas bandas que gatea en el profundo underground, quiero hablar detalladamente de ellos. Parece que el puro Metal se esta volviendo mas popular de nuevo, las proximas bandas esperanzadamente estaran al frente!

Parece que son del pueblo de Tijuana, el áspero pueblo opuesto a San Diego, y que lanzaron 1 o 2 CDs!? No pude confirmar esto hasta ahora.

DAMN SHARK es otra banda joven del profundo underground. Fueron fundados en 1995 y pudieron lanzar algunas canciones en 1996/97 en algunos discos tributes a B. SABBATH; METALLICA y MAIDEN. Tocan con tipicas influencias alemanas y abrieron en 1998 para sus heroes HELLOWEEN, y en 1999 para ANGRA y GAMMA RAY. En el 2000 hicieron 2 Cd demo y su 1er album "Era of the dark" esta casi terminado. Con su grandioso dragón en la portada y su experiencia, esto deberia ser interesante para cualquier maniaco del Metal. Afortunadamente tendrá una buena distribución en otros paises.

MEN AT ARMS existe desde 1995 y son muy conocidos en la escena. Tienen una verdadera vestimenta de “Guerrero del Metal” con un montón de puntas y cuero y usan consignas marciales. El demo "Die by the sword" de 1999 tiene verdadero sonido de True Metal, pero una voz totalmente Black Metal. Parece que quisieron combinar ambos estilos. El ultimo demo "Real man wear black" es hasta mas extremo, y no esta en claro en cual dirección irán. Mirá en la pagina para verlos vestidos completamente en atuendos de guerreros.

TZOMPANTLI fueron fundados en 1989 bajo el nombre INCEST. Bajo este extraño nombre hicieron 3 demos en muy buen estilo Power / Thrash. Llaman a su música “Metal Azteca” o “Metal prehispánico”. VOTAN es una banda de Leon, y es activa desde hace un tiempo. Primero se hicieron llamar MARDUK e hicieron 3 buenos demos Heavy / Speed. En 1996 cambiaron su nombre y lanzaron su demo "Olmecas". Este nombre es de una vieja tribu aborigen, y todas las letras son sobre este tema, y la música es otra vez, Metal del mejor.
